Forever Green is an original indie/pop/folk/rock music duo consisting of identical twin sisters, singer/songwriters, and visual artists Christi and Cara Brown. They began writing and playing music together in their early 20s. They were born in Fremont, California but spent most of their childhood in Claremont and the surrounding areas of Southern California. Growing up, Madonna was their idol. From there, musical favorites moved from Alice in Chains to Metallica. Then, The Cranberries, Alanis Morrisette, Sheryl Crow, Janice Joplin, The Grateful Dead, Phish, Bob Marley, Evanescence, Norah Jones, and so much more.
On a whim in 1996, they moved to San Luis Obispo because of the natural beauty, open space, a relatively small population, and a vibe that was inline with their increasingly environmentally sustainable and free-spirited mind sets. In San Luis Obispo, they met many interesting characters and musicians who were influential in the girls beginning to play music. They taught themselves acoustic guitar and hand percussion and began recording songs on a cassete tape during road trips home to visit family. In 2000 they recorded their all original self titled cd "Forever Green," at the brand new Avalon Studios in San Luis Obispo. They only had $100 to spend and that bought them one hour In the studio, and therefore, one take! Around that same time they were beginning to study nursing as well as selling their fantasy, fairy-themed watercolor paintings at art festivals and renaissance fairs up and down the west coast. This took up a lot of their music time and Forever Green took a bit of a hiatus. The past few years, after becoming successful selling their art on ETSY.com, they became free to stay home and refocus on their music. With Cara on acoustic guitar, percussion, and vocals and Christi on keyboards, percussion and vocals, and both on synth and electronic live creation groove box, they specialize in creating unique vocal harmonies and writing original songs with magical, haunting, emotional and ecological lyrics and melodies. Their history is apparent in their songs. The band name "Forever Green" is both a tribute to their strong planetary concerns as well as their commitment to open-mindedness, change, and the lifelong learning that comes with it.
